Pirandello utilizza il teatro come metafora della vita, mettendo in scena una riflessione profonda sul significato dell'identità e della realtà. Il dramma esplora temi come la finzione, l'illusione, l'ambiguità e la relatività della verità. Esso fu rappresentato per la prima volta il 9 maggio del 1921 al Teatro Valle di Roma. Luigi Pirandello (28 giugno 1867 - 10 dicembre 1936) è stato uno scrittore, drammaturgo e poeta italiano. Nato in provincia di Agrigento, in Sicilia, ha trascorso gran parte della sua vita a Roma. Considerato uno dei più grandi innovatori del teatro del Novecento, ha ricevuto il Premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 1934.
