In una lettera del '25, di ritorno da Parigi, Amalia Guglielminetti descriveva così il suo carattere. E probabilmente mentiva almeno in parte, poiché sapeva bene che la sua vita si presentava ai contemporanei come uno scandalo capace di scompaginare il quieto vivere della società benpensante cui apparteneva. In effetti, bastava poco a scandalizzare il perbenismo borghese della Torino di quegli anni, ma Amalia vi si impegnò con un gusto trasgressivo insolito specie per una donna del suo tempo. Tratto da un articolo apparso sul Corriere della Sera il 9 maggio del 2004 ad opera di Paolo Di Stefano. Le ore inutili, è una celebre raccolta di brevi novelle pubblicate per la prima volta nel 1919, rappresentano una piccola testimonianza della vocazione provocatoria e del gusto libertario della scrittrice torinese. Amalia Guglielminetti (Torino, 4 aprile 1881 – Torino, 4 dicembre 1941) è stata una scrittrice e poetessa italiana.
