Zu Advent und Weihnachten sehnen sich viele Menschen nach dem 'Anderen' jenseits des Alltags. Der Kalender "Der Andere Advent" begleitet Menschen in der Advents- und Weihnachtszeit bei dieser Suche nach dem 'Anderen'. Dabei will er die christliche Botschaft von Weihnachten bewusst in den Blick bringen - und das mit stetig wachsendem Erfolg. Doch was macht den Kalender so attraktiv? Welche Rolle spielen die Glaubensinhalte bei der Beschäftigung mit dem Kalender, aber auch im Kontext moderner christlicher Weihnachtsreligiosität insgesamt? Diesen Fragen geht die vorliegende Studie nach. Sie führt zunächst historisch, soziologisch und praktisch-theologisch in die (Be-)Deutung von Weihnachten ein, um sich dann auf Interviews mit den Leserinnen und Lesern des "Anderen Advents" zu konzentrieren. Mittels der empirischen Ergebnisse gelingt es, spätmoderne christliche Religiosität und Volkskirchlichkeit auch über Advent und Weihnachten hinaus neu in den Blick zu bringen und so weiterführende Anregungen für die theologische Theoriebildung und kirchliche Praxis zu bieten. The calendar "The Other Advent" is a companion in this search for the "other" during the times of Advent and Christmas – with steadily growing success. What makes the calendar so attractive? What role religious contents are playing in the context of its reception and of modern Christian Christmas religiosity as a whole? These questions are addressed by the study. The empirical results enable to take newly into account late modern Christian religiosity particularily in the majority churches and even beyond Advent and Christmas season.
