Seitdem war das GebĂ€ude Schauplatz unzĂ€hliger bedeutender Ereignisse: Hier wurde 1409 die Leipziger UniversitĂ€t gegrĂŒndet, hier predigte Luther 1539 und lĂ€utete damit die Reformation in Leipzig ein. Hier wirkten im 18. Jahrhundert Johann Sebastian Bach und im 19. Jahrhundert Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Deren Musik rĂŒhrt bis heute Menschen aus aller Welt tief an. Seit 800 Jahren ist die Thomaskirche ununterbrochen als Ort des Glaubens und der Musik weit ĂŒber Leipzig und Deutschland hinaus prĂ€sent.
