De ahĂ que sorprenda la desidia de los Estados a la hora de intentar descubrir quĂ© se oculta detrĂĄs de estos fenĂłmenos. Se podrĂa afirmar, tal y como lo hacen los autores de este singular texto, que para los Estados el fenĂłmeno de los ovnis es un no-fenĂłmeno: se reconoce su existencia pero, al no perseguir su investigaciĂłn, esta se relega al estatus de la "indecibilidad" o, lo que es lo mismo, en la prĂĄctica se asume que los ovnis existen pero, en realidad, no existen.La soberanĂa moderna es por definiciĂłn antropocĂ©ntrica, es decir, estĂĄ constituida y organizada con los seres humanos como Ășnica referencia. Sin embargo, quizĂĄs sus verdaderos lĂmites se evidencien en el tabĂș de tomar en serio el fenĂłmeno de los ovnis. Este tabĂș se explica por los imperativos funcionales de la soberanĂa antropocĂ©ntrica, incapaz de admitir una excepciĂłn a la primacĂa del ser humano sobre todas las cosas y a la soberanĂa estatal como expresiĂłn de este poder ontolĂłgico absoluto que, supuestamente, detentamos sobre el resto del universo.
