Ermittlung aufgabenbezogener Integrationsbedarfe zur Ableitung von Integrationsarchitekturen für Informationssysteme (Volume 35)

About this book

The importance of the design of integration architectures in the age of increasing IT penetration is increasing. Organizations face the challenge of conceiving and implementing suitable integration architectures for their information systems. The information system is the information processing system for organizations. Among other things, this is responsible for the planning, management and control of business processes. To carry out business processes, both different machine, in particular application systems, as well as personal task carriers are often used. As a result, the resource levels of business processes are mostly heterogeneous. This creates the problem of constructing suitable integration architectures and combining the relevant integration features of the resource level with the specific requirements of the business processes. For the development of this problem area, the present work offers an overview of existing approaches to the design of integration architectures for information systems. When approaching the topic for the first time, it quickly becomes apparent that the focus during integration is often on the technology, in particular on the creation of interfaces for the application systems involved. In addition, at the resource level, in addition to application systems, the proportion of personnel involved in the construction of integration architectures is often insufficiently considered. In order to avoid this restrictive view, a top-down approach is therefore designed in this thesis. In this process, integration needs are identified based on the business process and the requirements for integration are specified from the perspective of the tasks involved using characteristics. With a suitable combination with the resource level, different scenarios can be compared with one another. The basis of the top-down approach developed is the semantic object model. The application is illustrated using case studies from the university sector and goods distribution and supported with the help of a developed prototype. The present work is aimed at system designers. You should be methodically supported in the design of integration architectures for information systems of business processes by the developed approach and thereby acquire knowledge of the existing integration relationships and the consequences of integration decisions.
