In der EU hat Irland aufgrund seines wirtschaftlichen Aufschwungs und der hohen Direktinvestitionen auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Die Autorin untersucht, welche internen (Standortfaktoren) und externen Rahmenbedingungen (europäische Integration) eine erfolgreiche Anwerbung von Direktinvestitionen ermöglicht haben. Von besonderem Interesse ist, inwieweit andere Mitgliedsländer der EU die Strategie Irlands übernehmen können. Nach der Ermittlung eines theoretischen Analyserahmens wird dieser auf Irland angewendet.
