Ziel der Arbeit ist es, die Eigenschaften einer Essential Facility herauszuarbeiten und die wichtigsten mit ihr verbundenen ordnungs- und wettbewerbspolitischen Probleme darzulegen sowie Lösungsmöglichkeiten aufzuzeigen. Im Vordergrund steht dabei die Ausgestaltung der regulatorischen Eingriffe, die zur Förderung des Wettbewerbs, aber auch der ökonomischen Effizienz auf den relevanten MĂ€rkten notwendig werden. Verschiedene Netz- und Infrastrukturindustrien dienen durch die gesamte Arbeit als illustrative Beispiele.
