Die Alterung der westlichen Industrienationen fĂŒhrt zu einer erheblichen Belastung der Sozialversicherungssysteme. Der Autor zeigt dies am Beispiel der bundesdeutschen Rentenversicherung auf. Die ökonomische Analyse ergibt, daß die deutsche Gesetzliche Rentenversicherung (GRV) deutliche Anreize zur FrĂŒhverrentung setzt, deren Abbau das Sozialversicherungssystem merklich entlasten wĂŒrde. Das Rentenzugangsverhalten in Deutschland wird in einem Verweildauermodell mikroökonometrisch untersucht. Der Autor schlĂ€gt eine neuerliche Rentenreform in Form einer geĂ€nderten Rentenberechnung vor und zeigt anhand von Simulationsrechnungen deren Entlastungswirkungen fĂŒr die GRV-Finanzen auf. Die Arbeit behandelt ein aktuelles Feld der sozialpolitischen Diskussion und leistet einen wissenschaftlichen Beitrag zur Versachlichung der öffentlichen Diskussion.
