About this book
In the afternoon of 8 May 2006, at the end of the first edition of the "Open source, free software and open format in archaeological research processes" workshop, we proposed to repeat the fruitful experience just ended in Grosseto. As an IOSA group, headed by the International Institute of Ligurian Studies, we had preliminarily obtained the availability of the Genoa section (of which Professor Tiziano Mannoni was then president) to host a second edition of the meeting. The 2007 workshop was to (and did) constitute a continuation of the discussions launched in 2006 on the use and development of free and open source software in all areas of archeology, to which most of the interventions published here are dedicated.
