About this book

Roberto Pettorino era nato a Napoli il 24 aprile 1946. Dopo essersi laureato in Fisica presso l'Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II nel 1970, aveva poi svolto ricerche presso lo SLAC dell'Università di Stanford e il CERN di Ginevra. È stato professore ordinario di Fisica Teorica presso la Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche Fisiche e Naturali della Federico II, Preside della Facoltà dal 2007 al 2012, presidente del Nucleo di valutazione di Ateneo dall'ottobre 2012. Aveva seguito fin dalla creazione il primo Open Archive, nato nel 1991 presso i Laboratori Nazionali di Los Alamos (LANL, U.S.A.) per iniziativa del prof. Paul Ginsparg nell'ambito della comunità dei fisici delle particelle elementari. Dal 2002 è stato delegato del Rettore di Napoli Federico II per i servizi informatici delle biblioteche e membro del Consiglio Tecnico Scientifico e di Gestione del Centro Servizi Informativi. Ha presieduto la Commissione Permanente di Ateneo per le biblioteche e le risorse digitali. Nel 2002-2003 ha promosso lo sviluppo della Biblioteca Digitale dell'Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.Si pubblicano qui alcuni contributi letti l'8 aprile 2013 in occasione dell'intitolazione del Centro di Ateneo delle Biblioteche a Roberto Pettorino.
