DDR-Geschichte findet sich inzwischen in allen Lehrplänen. Bei Schülerinnen und Schülern erzeugt dies einen kognitiven Konflikt, wenn über Familie, Zeitzeugen oder Geschichtskultur andersartige Alltagserinnerungen in den Unterricht gelangen. Geschichtsunterricht kann dies aufgreifen und zeigen, dass die politisch-diktatorische Seite und die weniger eindeutige Alltagsgeschichte sich gegenseitig nicht ausschließen. Der didaktische Gewinn liegt dabei auch in einer differenzierteren Sicht auf moderne Diktaturen, deren Macht über die Gesellschaft immer begrenzt ist und die sich deshalb um die Loyalität der Menschen bemühen müssen.Das vorliegende Heft ermöglicht mit zahlreichen Materialien einen Einblick in verschiedene, für Schülerinnen und Schüler relevante Aspekte des DDR-Alltags, dessen politische Bedingungen dabei zugleich in den Blick geraten. Das Heft kann in Zeitnot punktuell eingesetzt oder als Einheit unterrichtet werden.
