La sua vasta produzione comprende opere significative come Il secolo dei fanciulli e L'amore ed il matrimonio, tradotte nelle maggiori lingue straniere, compreso l'italiano. Non è perciò strano che Ersilia Bronzini Majno, fondatrice e presidente dell'Unione Femminile Nazionale e protagonista del femminismo pratico a Milano, invitasse Key a tenere una conferenza nel maggio del 1907 e ad essere presidente onoraria al Congresso femminile a Milano nel 1908.Grazie al loro carteggio, riprodotto e commentato nel presente volume, è stato possibile ricostruire un capitolo finora sconosciuto del femminismo europeo.
