Nel libro, la lettura del pensiero gramsciano, in chiave di valorizzazione del "consiliarismo" e della presa di distanza dal "socialismo reale", è anche una via per l'Autore per ragionare sulla democrazia in quanto tale, sui suoi limiti e le sue potenzialità.
