1.1 Introduction

In industrial terminology, it is important to sustain industry contribution in the market in the long-term scenario (Kumar et al., 2017a; Shanker et al., 2019; Sindhwani et al., 2018). In order to do this, timely modification or updating of existing facilities, processes, and products are requisite (Sindhwani, Singh, Chopra, et al., 2019). In this regard, most industries are opting for agile manufacturing, i.e. introducing facility management in their industrial operations. The term ‘facility management’ refers to the adaptation of advanced tools and techniques used to satisfy consumer needs (Naylor et al., 1999). Facility management helps in increasing the responsiveness of the industry based on consumer demand prediction and aids in preparing the necessary strategy to respond accordingly (Yusuf et al., 1999).
While going through the literature, it seems difficult to decide on modifications or make amendments to existing facilities because there are a lot of attributes associated with these kinds of decisions. For making such decisions, the decision-maker has to simultaneously consider multiple attributes, which itself is a huge task. To simplify this, the multi-criteria decision-making approach is suggested. In the MCDM approach, multiple attrib...
