Este libro tiene la intención de plantear el debate sobre cómo se ha tejido histórica, sociológica y juridicamente la defensa e imaginación de la vida en un territorio paradojal como lo es Buenaventura. Así, se reúnen los aportes de nueve investigadores e investigadoras con diversas experiencias en este territorio y provenientes de diferentes disciplinas académicas, trayectorias sociales y ámbitos profesionales. Los autores y autoras exploran, desde diferentes estrategias teórico-metodológicas y perspectivas temáticas, las configuraciones actuales tanto de los órdenes sociales de violencia como de las gramáticas de vida articuladas por la comunidad para resistir y re-existir en Budnaventura. A lo largo de los capitulos, se podrán reconocer las múltiples facetas de la coyuntura paradojal que la comunidad afrocolombiana enfrenta allí, en particular tras la firma oficial de los Acuerdos de Paz entre las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia Ejército Popular (FARC-EP) y el gobierno de Juan Manuel Santos en septiembre del 2016. Defender la vida e imaginar el futuro tiene el mérito de actualizar, ahondar, complejizar y ampliar los devenires de este proceso de paz, así como lo que sobrevino para las comunidades con el Paro Civico del 2017.
