Am Beispiel ausgewählter Quartiere in Berlin, die in jüngster Zeit im Fokus kontroverser Debatten standen, möchte er Antworten suchen auf die Frage: Was sind urbane Diskurse? Diese Frage nach dem 'Wie' urbaner Kommunikation zielt auf deren (sozio)kulturelle Verfasstheit im Schnittfeld von Diskursforschung und Semiotik, Stadtökologie und Stadtsoziologie. Welche Ansätze können in einem interdisziplinären Forschungsdesign zur Anwendung kommen, um die Diskursbedingungen urbanen Wandels zu verbessern? Die einleitend vorgestellten Ansätze semiotischer, urbanologischer, ökologischer, linguistischer Provenienz sollen einen multidisziplinären Zugang für die 'Lektüre' urbaner Räume als 'Texte' bieten.
