Sin embargo, los esfuerzos de investigación en esta región, especialmente en la zona costera norte del litoral chocoano, han sido escasos. Este libro presenta los resultados de la descripción de las condiciones oceanográfica costeras y la caracterización ecológica de los ecosistemas marino-costeros que fueron identificados por la comunidad local como de importancia para la conservación, en la región comprendida entre Punta Cruces y Cabo Marzo, zona norte del Pacífico colombiano. Aunque este documento no deja de lado la rigurosidad metódica típica de un documento científico, el lenguaje utilizado y el apoyo visual que se ha incorporado, permite que se convierta en material de consulta tanto para las comunidades locales y centros educativos, como para los investigadores, entidades gubernamentales y otras organizaciones.
