Auch der politische Aktivismus kommt mit der Besetzung der Gefängnisinsel Alcatraz durch amerikanische Ureinwohner zur Sprache, bevor sich der Dichter in die akademische Provinz zurückzieht.In einem abschließenden Kapitel treffen die Protagonisten aller vier Bände der "Tales of Beatnik Glory" noch einmal im New York der 1990er Jahren aufeinander, um gemeinsam Résumé zu ziehen.Kaum jemand hat die alternativen kulturellen Strömungen in der Kunst, der Musik und vor allem in der Literatur stärker beeinflusst als die amerikanische Nachkriegsgeneration der Beatniks.
