Vorstellungen von Sterben und Tod sind gendergeprĂ€gt. Schon das grammatische Geschlecht von 'Tod', 'thanatos', 'mors' differiert in alten und heute gesprochenen Sprachen. Kulturen und Religionen kodieren bestimmte Todesarten, wie zum Beispiel Suizid, geschlechtsabhĂ€ngig. Aber auch die konkreten Einstellungen zu und Erfahrungen mit Sterben und Tod sind fĂŒr MĂ€nner und Frauen durchaus nicht gleich, wofĂŒr es Ursachen in der Biologie gibt (Schwangerschaft, Geburt und Tod waren und sind miteinander verflochten), aber auch in sozialen und kulturellen Zuweisungen.Mit diesen Genderkomponenten des Todes hat sich eine öffentliche Tagung an der Theologischen FakultĂ€t Bern im Mai 2013 beschĂ€ftigt, deren sechs BeitrĂ€ge - erweitert um kurze ForschungsĂŒberblicke aus den theologischen Disziplinen - hier dokumentiert werden. Der Studientag markiert den Auftakt zu einem mehrjĂ€hrigen Forschungsprojekt zu Tod und Gender, das erstmalig und interdisziplinĂ€r der Frage nach dem Gendervorzeichen von Sterben und Tod nachgeht.
