Reconstruye los procesos sociales y económicos por los que atravesaron los grupos de trabajo, esclavizados, vinculados a la extracción de oro. Desde las procedencias africanas y las dinámicas sociales de ocupación del espacio en la selva húmeda tropical del Pacífico colombiano, pasando por el establecimiento de las relaciones esclavistas para tal actividad minera, esta investigación aborda la reconstrucción y creatividades de sociedades que bien dieron lugar a diversas posibilidades de enfrentar la sujeción esclavista, convivir con ella y hasta negarla, dando lugar a poblados con relativas autonomías en medio de la hostilidad de los poderes coloniales de la región. Convertir a la cuadrilla de esclavizados, como unidad económica de trabajo minero, en una unidad social de gestación de una comunidad constituyó el germen de lo que en adelante fue quizás el mayor logro del creacionismo social, inventado por los esclavizados: individuos, familias, comunidades y sociedades conectadas por un pasado inmediato común de la Diáspora; parentescos reconstruidos y creados; solidaridades en procura de la libertad; creación de identidades culturales y hasta la participación en el desarrollo económico, a través de la inserción de su productividad en la economía de la región.
