Chapter 5
Prayer and Location
Have a relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Some may ask, what does this mean? Well, take the time to think. Have faith and believe in God. Find a religion that you believe in. This will come to you easily if you already have a relationship with God. If you do not, you should find that relationship. Some may ask the question, “Do I need to have a relationship with God?” Well, the answer is yes because having faith will help you cope with whatever is going on around you. Remember that it is a lot easier for any individual to speak and pray to God if they know him. You may ask yourself, “How do I get a relationship with God?” There are a couple of different ways to start a relationship with God.
One way is to make sure you have a strong religion that you believe in and start going to church and learn about him. Try and understand what it is you are being taught. Do not just listen to what you are being taught, but make sure you know it. The other way is to start reading your Bible. Remember, don’t just read, but actually understand what you are reading. Once you begin that relationship ask yourself the tough mental questions. Do I believe in God? Is God real? Can I believe what I am learning? Finally, the last and most important question to me is does God know who I am? This is so important to me because if you can answer that question with a yes, it becomes very easy to talk and pray to God. If you can answer yes to all of these important questions, you are having faith and can start to accept whatever it is that God puts in your way because you BELIEVE.
James 4:2 states, “You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.”
It is all right to ask God for what you want. We have an all-knowing God, so with that understanding, it should make it easier for you to ask God. He knows what he has in store for you in your life, and he still gives you the freedom to go and find it. Life is a journey, so enjoy the ride and explore what you can to find what is best for you. Enjoy the journey because you never know when it will end.
In the book of Matthew 7:7, it states, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened.” What this means is that you can ask God for what it is you want. You can create a plan to go and find what it is you want. And if the opportunity is available, then you will be welcome to walk in and have great success with what you do. This verse also lets you know that God does want you to ask him for what you want. Now the understanding that you must know is that if what you ask for is not what God wants for you, he will answer your prayers, and when he does, he will answer with something better than what you asked for. He will bless you with what you need in your life, and with that, God will give you the answer to your prayers. You must have confidence in God when you believe in him that he will give you what you need. He is an on-time God, so the timing of his answer to you will be when he believes it is best for you, not when you think it will be best for you. Having faith in God means you trust in him and what he does and is going to do.
In the book of Matthew 21:22, it states, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” This was a command from God speaking to the apostles. Another important understanding of this verse is the act of believing. Do not pray for something of want by getting directly to the point, but when you pray be a believer and truly believe in what you are praying for. Again, God is an on-time God. If he knows it is best for you, he will bless it to you with it.
One of the most important things you must know is to let God know your desires. Give your all to the Lord. Psalms 37:4 states, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of you heart.” You must allow God to give you a bigger vision and spend time with him so that when he does give you the answers to your prayers, you will be ready for it.
An often-common mistake made by many people is that they feel they are too old to do what they want to do. This is the farthest from the truth because your age does not matter. You must remember that God is an on-time God. So no matter how old or young you are you can stil...
