Im Gegensatz zu Standardsprachen verfügen Dialekte selten über ein niedergeschriebenes Regelwerk, eine Grammatik. Dabei sind Dialekte nicht weniger "grammatisch". Die Erforschung von Dialekten, also genetisch eng miteinander verwandten Sprachen, ihren lautlichen, lexikalischen und grammatischen Unterschieden zueinander, liefert aber wichtige Erkenntnisse über das "System Sprache". Untersucht werden diese Unterschiede im Vergleich zur Standardsprache und innerhalb der Varianten eines Sprachraums. Auch historische Sprachstufen werden in die Datenerhebung und Analyse miteinbezogen. Die vorliegende Studie befasst sich mit dem grammatischen System, der Syntax des Alemannischen. Basierend auf einer standardisierten Datenerhebung, durch Befragung von Dialektsprecher*innen in der deutschsprachigen Schweiz, in Vorarlberg (Österreich), im Elsass (Frankreich) und den alemannischen Sprachgebieten in Baden-Württemberg werden gezielt die grammatischen Unterschiede von Relativsätzen zunächst systematisch erfasst und anschließend analytisch untersucht.
