All of us have heard that God hears the smallest whispers of the heart. This author has always believed that we need to listen to those whispers. We may see or hear them in our dreams at night, or we may be nudged by a sudden inspirational moment in our waking hours. We need to listen to these messages, nourish them, and welcome them with gratitude. Whatever our background, whatever our educational level, whatever our work is about, we are one with each other on many levels. Hard times are good exercises that help us stretch and grow. Like most, this author has had her share of suffering and disappointment, which only serves to make one thirsty for the truth. When you read between the lines, you may find a bit of truth, or at least see a sign that says you are getting closer. And then the dazzling light becomes a joy and a candle to help light the way.

Take Heart

Upon the open plain I saw

Man put to rest and nothing more

No choir song or epitaph

This king had finally breathed his last

The loyal subjects bowed down now

And sanctified his life somehow

Though cruel and vicious he had been

He ruled the land, but that was then

And now he laid his body down

Gave up the ghost gave up his crown

The pages of his time had turned

On funeral pyre he was burned

And all his people now were free

From cruel and tortured legacy

Their leader gone they scattered far

Not knowing who or what they are

They look to whom they cannot find

Their star within they left behind

They seek it now on yonder hill

Illusive goal they wander still

The compass deep within the breast

Had long since slept at man’s request

They followed rulers like lost sheep

Their inner star still fast asleep

Awaken now and follow not

The cruel king in his rule forgot

The frightened people need to pray

And look at life another way

Be still the heart be still the mind

And never leave your soul behind

Follow not an evil man

Though so attractive is his plan

For God alone can make you whole

And heal the body heal the soul

Look to another never friend

For God is with you to the end

And never is the end you see

For you will rise with destiny

A son-ship with the Holy One

When journey on this earth is done

And set your sail to fly with Him

No other guide no other King

And focus not on earthly kings

Nor treasures of the earthly things

But focus like the laser beam

For all is not just what it seems

Of Truth and Love we are a part

Of single mind and single heart
