Weltkrieges. Aus dem muffigen Wien der Nachkriegszeit entfloh sie in die Kunstmetropole Paris, lernte bei Fernand Léger Malerei und in den Cafés von St. Germain de Près zu den rauchigen Klängen von Juliette Grecos Stimme das Tanzen. Ab 1950 wirkte sie als Ausstatterin und Bühnenbildnerin an den Münchner Kammerspielen, für das Bayerische Staatsschauspiel und für Film und Fernsehen. Sie hat vier Kinder großgezogen, eines davon ist Österreichs erfolgreichster Hollywood-Export: der charismatische Schauspieler und Oscar-Preisträger Christoph Waltz.
