Il volume esplora un importante nodo gordiano della cultura visuale contemporanea: il rapporto tra la fashion communication e le cosiddette "immagini parassita", ossia le immagini che, per la loro piacevolezza visiva, bypassano il senso critico di chi le osserva. Nella prima parte del libro ci si sofferma sulle questioni connesse alla creazione e alla diffusione delle immagini parassita nell'ambito della moda e alla riflessione filosofica che ne può scaturire alla luce della visual ethics. Nella seconda parte ci si concentra sul campo d'indagine della ricerca universitaria effettuata presso l'Istituto Universitario Salesiano Venezia-Verona (IUSVE) da metà 2019 a tutto il 2020, dedicata alle immagini parassita nella fashion communication, restituendone milieu culturale e sociale, progettazione e metodologia. Le conclusioni confermano che, più gli osservatori negano di aver interiorizzato delle immagini parassita, più ne sono carichi, perché ciò che manca loro è un pensiero critico che si trasformi in un atto di visione consapevole.
