Ihm folgten mächtige Herrscher auf dem Thron: Djoser, der die Stufenpyramide von Sakkara schuf, Cheops, Echnaton, Ramses II. Sogar eine Frau, Hatschepsut, herrschte 22 Jahre über das Land am Nil. Erst mit Kleopatra, der Verführerin Cäsars, endete die Herrschaft der Pharaonen kurz vor der Geburt Christi. Der alte Glaube an die Götter, der Glaube an Isis und Osiris, an Re-Harachte und Hathor versank in den folgenden Jahrhunderten. Genauso wie die berühmten Tempelbauten von Luxor, Karnak und Edfu, die vom Wüstensand bedeckt wurden.Erst im 19. Jahrhundert, nach der Entschlüsselung der Hieroglyphen, entdeckte die Menschheit wieder das geheimnisvolle Reich der Pharaonen.
