La obra brinda una mirada amplia para la enseñanza de cátedras de Asia al recorrer los principales aspectos históricos, políticos, económicos, comerciales y de relaciones internacionales enmarcados en un contexto cultural.El libro está conformado por diez capítulos que se desarrollan en dos partes: la primera parte profundiza en particularidades de siete países asiáticos: India, Rusia, Japón, Corea del Sur, Singapur y China, Hong Kong, Macao y Taiwán (dividida en dos capítulos). La segunda parte describe las características socioeconómicas y culturales de tres regiones: Sudeste asiático, Asia Central y Sur de Asia. El libro está escrito en castellano para contribuir a la producción intelectual en este idioma y facilitar a los estudiantes hispanohablantes la apropiación de los estudios de Asia en América Latina con una mirada integral mediante un lenguaje amable e informativo.
