Rawdon Briggs Lee (1845-1908) succeeded Stonehenge at The Field and became the most authoritative recorder of the British dog of his generation. A History and Description, With Reminiscences, of the Fox Terrier, first published in 1889, covers the old writers on terriers, the origins and the early shows, the famous dogs and the great kennels, the Yorkshire and Devonshire strains, ear-cropping and the other malpractices of the ring, the scale of points, working and training, the wire-haired variety, and breeding and rearing.
Arthur Wardle's illustrations are reproduced from the original edition - and Wardle is collected today in his own right.
