Printing

  1. 1 Explore the texture of the apples by holding and feeling them.
  2. 2 Cut apples into halves and quarters – feel the difference between the skin and the flesh inside the apple.
  3. 3 Pour paints into trays – mix in a small amount of PVA glue to prevent paint flaking when dry.
  4. 4 Feel the paper, card, material, wood, etc, and select a surface to make a print on.
  5. 5 Apply the paint to the apple segments using the paintbrushes.
  6. 6 Press apple segments firmly on to chosen surface.
  7. 7 Gently lift off apple – or peel the paper or material off the apple.
  8. 8 Build up a symmetrical pattern.

Rolling

  1. 1 Coat the whole apple with paint, either by rolling it in the paint tray or by using a paintbrush.
  2. 2 Secure the paper or material to the table using masking tape.
  3. 3 Gently roll one apple across the paper.
  4. 4 Repeat with different apples and colours to create a random pattern.
