Printing
- 1 Explore the texture of the apples by holding and feeling them.
- 2 Cut apples into halves and quarters – feel the difference between the skin and the flesh inside the apple.
- 3 Pour paints into trays – mix in a small amount of PVA glue to prevent paint flaking when dry.
- 4 Feel the paper, card, material, wood, etc, and select a surface to make a print on.
- 5 Apply the paint to the apple segments using the paintbrushes.
- 6 Press apple segments firmly on to chosen surface.
- 7 Gently lift off apple – or peel the paper or material off the apple.
- 8 Build up a symmetrical pattern.
Rolling
- 1 Coat the whole apple with paint, either by rolling it in the paint tray or by using a paintbrush.
- 2 Secure the paper or material to the table using masking tape.
- 3 Gently roll one apple across the paper.
- 4 Repeat with different apples and colours to create a random pattern.
- 5 Try mono-prints – focus on one colour.
