Jahrhundert etablierte die Verlegerfamilie im Wallfahrtsort Einsiedeln einen Handel mit RosenkrĂ€nzen und religiösen Souvenirs.Im 19. Jahrhundert weitete das Unternehmen seine AktivitĂ€ten aus. Benziger wurde international tĂ€tig, mit Filialen in den USA, Frankreich und Deutschland. In enger Wechselwirkung mit der katholischen Kirche entwickelte sich der Verlag zu einem global agierenden, katholischen Medienkonzern.Mit massenproduzierten GebetbĂŒchern, Andachtsbildern, Devotionalien und Zeitschriften trug der Verlag massgeblich dazu bei, den katholischen Glauben im Alltag der GlĂ€ubigen zu verankern und die Bedeutung der Kirche zu stĂ€rken. Heinz Nauers Publikation beleuchtet die Geschichte des Benziger Verlags von seinen AnfĂ€ngen bis zum Verkauf in den 1990er-Jahren. Die Publikation stĂŒtzt sich insbesondere auf das umfangreiche und bislang wenig bekannte Nachlassarchiv des Verlags in Einsiedeln.
