About this book

Die Segensverheißungen an Abraham in Gen 12, 1-3 kulminieren in der Aussage: "In dir sollen gesegnet werden alle Völker der Erde" (Gen 12, 3b). Diese Verheißung erfolgt erneut beim Besuch der "drei Männer" (Gen 18), bei der "Opferung Isaaks" (Gen 22) sowie der jeweils ersten Gottesrede an Isaak (Gen 26) und Jakob (Gen 28). Die exegetische Arbeit untersucht die einzelnen Verheißungen und entwirft eine Motivgeschichte zu Gen 12, 3b: Das Motiv stammt ursprünglich aus der vorexilischen Königsideologie von Ps 72: Der judäische König herrscht über andere Nationen, so dass sich diese solchen Segen wünschen, wie Jerusalems König ihn hat. Dieser Herrschaftssegen wird in Gen 22 auf Abraham/Israel übertragen: Weil Abraham Gott absolut gehorcht, wird seine Nachkommenschaft das Tor der Feinde besetzen, so dass sich alle Nationen Segen wünschen, wie Abraham ihn hat. Eine entscheidende Veränderung erfährt das Motiv erst in den nachexilischen Texten Gen 12; 18: Hier ist nicht mehr die Herrschaft über andere Völker das von Gott gesetzte Ziel Abrahams, sondern das tatsächliche Segen-Sein zugunsten anderer Völker.
