Auf dem Fundament von Nächstenliebe und Barmherzigkeit kristallisiert sich die Begegnung oder vielmehr die Begleitung als größte Chance im Umgang mit Sterben und Tod im Feuerwehrdienst heraus. Sie hat das Potential, das Inkognito Gottes in den diversen Möglichkeiten im Feuerwehrdienst, in denen man auf Sterben und Tod treffen kann, zu entdecken und damit in das Antlitz Gottes im Angesicht des Anderen zu blicken. Die Seelsorgenden wirken hierbei als "Anführer" der Nächstenliebe. Sie qualifizieren ihre und die Liebesfähigkeit der Kameradinnen und Kameraden der Feuerwehr in der begegnenden Begleitung und im Zusammenspiel mit entsprechend notwendigen Kompetenzen auf Basis des Konsensus-Prozesses.
