Why Should You Get Certified?

This book will help you get certified as a technology associate for the profile SAP HANA technology consultant, as it’s officially stated. Before we cover the different profiles and certification levels, let’s first briefly address why you might want to get certified in the first place. It’s a topic of heated debate at times, not restricted to SAP certifications, but common to the software industry. Usually, we find the following two characteristics of a professional opposed: experience and knowledge. Those not in favor of certification typically will argue that hands-on project experience is what matters and not the theoretics of certification. And they are right, of course, on the first part of the argument. Experience is important, and most certifications will include a recommendation of several months to two- or three-years’ experience before taking the exam. Although it’s hard to test experience in an exam, to answer some of the questions successfully, intimate knowledge of the software will be required. This is easily obtained when working closely with the product over a longer period of time but will be much harder to acquire through intensive study alone.
