Development of an EP2

We now know the bases from which to develop a powerful EP2. If we think of it as a recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
  • Knowing and understanding your goal
  • Knowing and understanding your offer
  • Comprehend who is your target audience
  • Understanding that a unique selling point is the most promising resource for your target audience
What you should have grasped by now, is that there is not a specific manual to develop an EP2. There is no answer to explain everything. Your objective must be to make your counterpart, so curious that he or she asks you to further discuss.
The goal is to make your counterpart ask. To achieve this, there are different approaches:

The Benefit Approach

This is one the most conservative approach. It depends on the target audience, but if it is appropriate, it may just be very successful. The idea is to package all the benefits for said target group in one tight set.
It would be easy to say:
I am selling insurance for people.
While this may be true, technically, there is no actual benefit to those listening, is it? Those that could be interested are literally those that got out of bed that morning with a burning desire to buy a personal accident insurance.
An example of how to twist this using the benefit approach:
My job is to make sure you are not alone and have the necessary support when something goes wrong in your life.
The main difference here, is that your target group develops interest in your proposal and asks questions, so they can create a space where you can give more advice. In addition, you have shown a clear benefit, and, don´t we all want benefits?

The Freestyle Approach

The freestyle approach has been deemed propagated by many people, even book authors. Its main goal is to keep things as original as possible. That would turn a pension consultant into a "retirement planner”, or an insurance advisor to a "property architect". A seller of vitamins once introduced himself to me as a "Health Doctor".
Of course, there is nothing against developing from your own professions. But keep in mind that all creativity for must fit your target audience, your personality and your product.
A big advantage when it comes to this approach is that there is absolutely no doubt that many people will come back to ask, and that is the main objective of our elevator pitch ...
