Information

Part I

Foundations
The first part of this book introduces the condition technique, which represents the core of pricing. The condition technique was originally developed for pricing. As it evolved, the condition technique was also used for many other determination processes such as output determination. This part includes an introduction to the application areas and elements of the condition technique, the maintenance of the condition master data for pricing, and their evaluations and worklists.
The condition technique is a configurable method that was built to define and access master data. It was developed as a generic solution for determination processes. In this first chapter, essential basic functionalities are presented and we will become familiar with the terms of the condition technique.

This means that a maximal flexibility is needed. SAP’s response to this challenge is the condition technique.
The basic idea for the condition technique was born during the development of the pricing functionality, but it soon became clear that the underlying construction principles were also perfect for other application areas. The condition technique is also used in all new functionalities where the key structure of the master data objects was not fixed from the start, but instead highly dependent on the customer demands. Examples of this are material listing, material exclusion, and material substitution.
To differentiate between application areas, the term condition usage (or simply usage) was introduced. Before we look at some examples of this condition usage, we will concentrate on properties of condition master data (condition recor...
