Downtown

Take Manhattan, add a splash of Mexico City, a dash of Tokyo and Guangzhou, shake and pour. Your drink: Downtown LA. Rapidly evolving, 'DTLA' is the city's most intriguing patch, where cutting-edge architecture and world-class modern-art museums contrast sharply against blaring mariachi tunes, Chinese grocers, abject poverty and many of the city's hottest restaurants, bars, galleries and boutiques.

The Sights in a Day

MHave breakfast at Eggslut before meandering down Broadway past the old theaters to the Fashion District, where even if there isn’t a sample sale on you can explore the California Market Center and absorb the general fashionista vibe. Hit the epic Grammy Museum before heading north.
RGrab lunch at Q Sushi before strolling north past Pershing Square and into the Financial District. From here it’s an easy walk two blocks north to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where you can catch the last tour of the day. Then walk down the road to the MOCA Grand and the Broad.
NIf it’s a summer Friday night, you can start your evening with free live music at the California Plaza. Otherwise, head to the Ace Hotel rooftop for a sundowner, then to Maccheroni Republic for dinner and over to Clifton's Republic for a cocktail.
