South Beach

The most iconic neighborhood in Greater Miami, South Beach is a vertiginous landscape of sparkling beach, beautiful art-deco architecture, high-end boutiques and buzzing bars and restaurants. South Beach has its glamour, but there's more to this district than just velvet ropes and high-priced lodging. You'll find some great down-to-earth bars, good ethnic eating and excellent museums.

The Sights in a Day

MBegin the day with an early-morning walk along the beachfront. Afterwards, have a healthy breakfast and a good coffee at Dirt. Once caffeinated, hit the streets for a photo-snapping architectural stroll around the Art Deco Historic District. Then delve deeper into art and design at the excellent Wolfsonian-FIU.
RAround lunchtime, head over to Pubbelly in Sunset Harbour for creative cooking with a global palate. Afterwards, check out the shops on the nearby strip – and pick up a treat for later from True Loaf, with its astoundingly good pastries. Walk off your lunch on Lincoln Road, an appealing pedestrian strip lined with shops and cafes.
NIn the late afternoon, stop in for happy hour drinks and oysters at Sweet Liberty. Catch a show at the Colony Theatre, then have a late dinner at the elegant Yuca. Switch gears following the meal, and join the party people over at Kill Your Idol or Bodega.
