Grünerløkka & Vulkan

One glance at Grünerløkka – 'Løkka' will do fine – and you'll wonder if it’s possible to pack in another bar, cafe, vintage shop or live-music venue. Join Oslo’s flourishing creative classes (including students from the nearby art and design schools) for coffee-sipping, small plate-picking, wine-quaffing and beer-swilling. And the action continues across the Akerselva in the revitalised warehouse district of Vulkan.

The Sights in a Day

MStart where it all began at Olaf Ryes plass, surrounded by some of the neighbourhood's most enduring favourite bars, restaurants, cafes and music venues, then explore the surrounding streets after a morning coffee at legendary Tim Wendelboe.
RWander down to the Akerselva River for some intriguing industrial architecture and some surprisingly wild stretches of rapids and lushly treed banks. To the north you'll find two of the city's best commercial galleries, Rod Bianco and Standard. Then head back to Mathallen Oslo for lunch.
NDrinks and dinner can be had at Territoriet and Le Benjamin. More-restless grazer...
