Strøget & Around

Pedestrianised Strøget (pronounced ‘stroll’) weaves through Copenhagen’s historical core from Rådhuspladsen to Kongens Nytorv. Many of the most interesting sights, restaurants, bars and boutiques, however, lie off the main drag, in or around the old Latin Quarter. Among them is Copenhagen's austere, sculpture-graced cathedral and King Christian IV's curious 17th-century Round Tower.

The Sights in a Day

MBegin in the Latin Quarter, taking in Bertel Thorvaldsen’s sculptures inside Vor Frue Kirke and exploring the bookshops, cafes, boutiques and centuries-old architecture on streets like Studiestræde, Krystalgade, Fiolstræde and Kannikestræde. At the eastern end of Kannikestræde stands Rundetårn, worth climbing for the view.

The streets east of DØP and Schønnemann are packed with inspired shops, including homegrown Han Kjøbenhavn, Wood Wood, and Hay House. Alternatively, opt for an afternoon of contemporary art at Kunstforeningen GL Strand and Nikolaj Kunsthal.
NSip well-picked vino at Ved Stranden 10 or gorgeous cocktails at Ruby, then dine at pan-Asian hotspot The Market or reserve a table at New-Nordic Marv & Ben. I...
