Afterwards, get ready for some serious interior-decorating voyeurism with a tour of the Hallwylska Museet, the former home of a wealthy count and countess who collected objets d’art with the intent of eventually displaying them to the public.

RNext up, change centuries with a visit to the very hip Wetterling Gallery. This is where up-and-coming Stockholm artists – painters, photographers and new-media protagonists – strut their stuff.

NWrap up the afternoon at the Medelhavsmuseet, filled with fascinating artefacts and artwork, notably Egyptian lore and ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. There’s a great cafe here if you’re still hungry, or head for the ultimate smörgåsbord dinner at Grands Verandan. Clubby nights await at Café Opera or Berns Salonger.
