West Village, Chelsea & the Meatpacking District

The West Village’s twisting streets offer intimate spaces for dining and drinking. Young professionals go to the Meatpacking District’s trendy bars to see and be seen. Chelsea has art galleries and a vibrant LGBT scene. Tying them together is the High Line, a snake-like park, above.

Start your day with a stroll down the High Line; start at W 30th St and head south. Stop for lunch and a quick browse at Chelsea Market, then hit up the new Whitney Museum of American Art. Wander the West Village’s quaint, cobblestoned streets, lined with cafes and boutiques. For evening entertainment, take your pick from dozens of restaurants for dinner, then enjoy some live jazz at Smalls or Village Vanguard, or whatever’s on at Le Poisson Rouge. Try the Comedy Cellar for some laughs or head back up to Chelsea for Sleep No More. For late-night drinks try Bathtub Gin.
