Riverside, Silom & Lumphini

Mae Nam Chao Phraya forms a watery backdrop to these linked neighbourhoods. History is still palpable in the riverside area’s crumbling architecture, while heading inland, Silom is frenetic and modern, with lower Th Silom functioning as Bangkok’s gaybourhood. Th Sathon is the much more subdued embassy zone and Lumphini is dominated by central Bangkok’s largest green zone.

Get an early start at Lumphini Park. Lunch on the famous fried chicken at Kai Thort Jay Kee, then pop into Sri Mariamman Temple. Spend the afternoon window shopping at House of Chao. For dinner, consider a dinner cruise along the river. Alternatively, head inland for rooftop cocktails at Moon Bar followed by dinner at nahm.
