Conclusion

And that’s it.
No doubt as you worked your way through this book you discovered so many more useful websites, markets and resources. There really are so many ways to earn money as a freelance writer and so many places online to help you.
Just don’t feel bad about rejections. Every freelance writer gets thousands of them. But you’ll get acceptances too.
And once you get known to editors and website owners, you may find that they start contacting you and commissioning you to write for them, or offer you ongoing work.
But however you earn money from your writing, don’t make the mistake of comparing your success to others. Individual efforts do produce individual results. No two writers will earn the same amount of money or have the same amount of acceptances and success.
As author Joe Konrath said ā€œThere’s a word for a writer who never gives up - Published!ā€
By the time you’ve finished working your way through all the previous chapters, you’ll know what you enjoyed doing the most, and where you had the most success, so these are the things that you need to do more. At the end of the day, you have to enjoy what you do, or you won’t want to do it and you’ll quit.
When I first began as a freelance writer, being paid for my work was exhilarating. It was far more satisfying than going out and working 9 to 5 for someone else. Giving up my job to be a writer was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
And now it’s even easier to find work thanks to social media. If you can stay away from the usual anti-social and downright depressing aspect of it, social media is a great place to advertise your writing talents.
You can use Facebook, LinkedIn and even Twitter to help you. But you need to come across as professional while still appearing approachable.
Facebook will let you have your own ā€˜business page’ for professional reasons where you can post about your freelance successes while also offering your writing services to others. But it won’t help if you have a personal Facebook account with photos of you drunk and swearing.
LinkedIn is also a great place to get yourself known as a writer. They even let you post articles and stories so that others can see your work. And you can say that you’re a writer for hire in your profile and maybe include a link to your account on one of the freelance writing sites you joined. LinkedIn also has a jobs board with hundreds of writing jobs available, so it’s a great place to find not only one writing gig, but most jobs there are for ongoing work.
You could, if you wanted to, keep a diary of your successes as a freelance writer and eventually write it up into a book to help others.
You see, there really is no end to the number of ways you can earn money as a freelance writer, which is what you’ll discover once you immerse yourself in your writing.
But most importantly you need to enjoy it because in my humble, yet extremely accurate opinion, there really is no better way to earn money than from writing.
I’ve been loving it for years and I hope you do too.

Good luck my writing friend.
