Als Liebhaber der venezianischen Oper und Bewunderer der Hofführung von Ludwig XIV. brachten sie im ausgehenden 17. Jahrhundert von ihren Reisen nach Italien und Frankreich Musik und Musiker mit und etablierten im Norden eine geradezu europäisch geprägte Musikszene.
