Der Berichtband enthält Vorträge, die während einer Tagung des Berliner Forschungszentrums Ethik im Jahr 2014 gehalten wurden. Thema der Veranstaltung war die Vereinbarkeit von ethischen Normen und dem konkurrenzbetonten, auf Erfolg fixierten Spitzensport, welche in der Öffentlichkeit als selbstverständlich angenommen wird. In der Realität ist das sportliche Wettkampfgeschehen häufig durchsetzt von Verhaltensweisen und Zielorientierungen, die an dieser Vereinbarkeit berechtigte Zweifel aufkommen lassen. In den Beiträgen werden auf der Grundlage dieser Antinomie Positionen skizziert und diskutiert, die diese Vereinbarkeit für zwingend geboten halten, wenn der Sport – besonders im Umgang mit Mitteln zur Leistungssteigerung, die dem Kodex sportlichen Handelns nicht entsprechen – in humanen Gesellschaften weiterhin als Erfolgsmodell gelten soll.
