Aluvión de Fuego de Oscar Cerruto es una novela que relata las vicisitudes de Mauricio Santa Cruz, un joven hijo de terratenientes que descubre un mundo ideológico más allá de su entorno social y familiar. Abandona la ciudad de La Paz, donde vive con su familia, para enrolarse en la guerra que Bolivia entabla en territorio del Chaco contra Paraguay. Sin embargo, nunca llega a la región en conflicto, sino que su aventura se restringe al altiplano boliviano. Este viaje, que es geográfico e ideológico, lo transformará de un sujeto burgués a un sujeto revolucionario. Mauricio muere, finalmente, en una revuelta luego de haber entrado a trabajar en las minas y de haberse unido a la actividad sindical. En el presente trabajo se aborda esta obra, escrita en 1935 mientras Bolivia atravesaba un conflicto bélico que la enfrentó con Paraguay. La disputa del territorio del Chaco, rico en petróleo, y su posterior pérdida significó para el pueblo boliviano un duro golpe que luego se tradujo en un cambio a nivel político y social. Las configuraciones de ese cambio y la búsqueda de un sujeto nacional serán los vectores que dirigirán la presente investigación.
