En este libro procuramos abordar la historia de la salud y la enfermedad en los ámbitos rurales, haciéndolo extensivo a distintas provincias de Argentina, en algunos casos de la zona central como Buenos Aires, Santa Fe y Córdoba, y en otros en provincias del noroeste como Jujuy y Tucumán. Los estudios que se presentan también tienen otra particularidad: su mirada se centra en distintos momentos de la historia de Argentina, que van desde Mediados del siglo XIX hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX. Este recorrido diacrónico permite observar el impacto de las enfermedades y su atención en diversos momentos de la historia en diferentes provincias argentinas y las estrategias que se utilizaron para combatirlas. En ese sentido los capítulos que aquí se compilan tienen el valor del estudio de casos que permitirán abrir nuevas líneas de investigación que hasta este momento no han sido Explotadas por la historiografía argentina.
