Nachdem es zwischenzeitlich fast keine aktuelle Ausbildungsliteratur zum Umweltstrafrecht mehr gab, sind in jüngerer Zeit wieder Lehrbücher (neu) erschienen. Diese richten sich an Studierende in strafrechtlichen Schwerpunktbereichen und an Praktiker. Hier wie dort besteht das Problem, dass das Umweltstrafrecht oft nur einen Ausschnitt der relevanten Materie und des praktischen Alltags betrifft. Damit korrespondiert das Bedürfnis nach einem kompakten Grundriss, der systematisch in das Rechtsgebiet einführt. Als solcher versteht sich dieses Buch. Es soll seine Leser gleichsam am Anfang abholen und auf einen Streifzug durch das Umweltstrafrecht der §§ 324 ff. mitnehmen. Nicht zuletzt um des praktischen Nutzens willen geschieht das am Beispiel der einschlägigen Rechtsprechung, die dafür so vollständig eingearbeitet worden ist, wie dies möglich und didaktisch sinnvoll erschien. Dem Konzept der Reihe entsprechend sind die Nachweise in den Fußnoten bewusst in einem überschaubaren Rahmen gehalten worden. Weitergehende Literaturnachweise finden sich vor und nach den jeweiligen Kapiteln. Dadurch sollte es interessierten Lesern leicht möglich sein, trotz der Konzeption als Grundriss einzelne Probleme zu vertiefen.
