L'autore, Mimmo Parisi, ha aggiornato in maniera misurata la storia che le si era presentata durante il primo inaspettato lockdown il quale, indubbiamente, resterà a lungo nelle nostre menti. Il libro, che vede come protagonisti i due sedicenni Nico e Stella, si dipana intorno all'esperienza di clausura forzata e dettata dall'invasione mondiale del coronavirus. Una situazione la loro che per certi versi accomuna poi tutti. Più in generale il libro è alla fine, un percorso che accompagna il lettore a rivedere e riconsiderare quei giorni inattesi. Tra la fine dell'inverno e l'inizio del 2020, è stato bloccato tutto ciò che sembrava ordinario: fosse anche una vita spesa a osservare in tv banali reality show. Nico e Stella si conoscono dai balconi. Provano a inventarsi le giornate. Per quanto il ragazzo sia affetto da una patologia ingravescente, riesce – grazie all'intervento di Stella – a trovare una soluzione inattesa e insperata. La storia è narrata attraverso un lungo flashback, per giungere poi verso un orizzonte temporale spostato in avanti di circa un ventennio. Quando ormai l'epoca del Covid-19 è materia per libri scolastici, e ci si è dimenticati di aver vissuto un'esperienza planetaria che, per la prima volta nella Storia, ha interessato perfino le tribù dell'Amazzonia. Un libro che presenta un Teen Drama dove i due ragazzi sono essi stessi i protagonisti. Una lettura per Young Adult? Certo. Ma non solo.
